Captain Von Trapp!!! Errr…Christopher Plummer at tonight’s Academy Awards.  Why? 40% because he’s Canadian (and a Torontonian cum Montréaler to boot!), 40% because I think he’s an amazing thespian, and 20% because he’s still swoon-worthy and going at it in the 3rd act of life (he’s 82!).  He was amazing in Beginners, for which he is nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in this year’s Oscar Awards.  And here’s a random fact – he and William Shatner (yup – Captain Kirk!) were best theater buddies back in their university days at McGill!  So naturally Christopher Plummer also played a Klingon in a Star Trek movie.  Anyways – definitely go see Beginners if you haven’t….it’s incredibly charming and a great work by director Mike Mills.
