What a whirlwind the last week has been. There are so many things going on inside my head, it’s hard to calm down all the inner chatter. Amazing flat! How to decorate? Need to find job! No one’s here because it’s everyone’s on holiday! Chillax! Get a massage! What are we having for dinner?
Those are just a few of the thoughts going through my head. But I’m so happy to report that D and I found that home we dreamed of. Literally dreamed of. Before we left for Cambodia – I kept having these dreams of friends coming to visit and staying at our beautiful 3 bedroom wooden house. Well guess what? We have one! After seeing about 9 seriously so-so flats in Phnom Penh, we went to visit my star real estate agent, Nara, and he had a doozey for us! A 3-bedroom refurbished wooden house whose rent had been drastically reduced because of a massive construction site across the street! And we thought – you’ve got to be kidding! I can’t wait to post pictures about our design process. The place is literally a blank slate; but has a keenly design-minded landlord. He keeps adding new things – so every day we come home to a new addition! It’s also a bit overwhelming with all the options we have to do to this place. So we’re slowly but surely settling in.
It’s so easy to get overwhelmed by everything there is to accomplish – home (check), job (an ever constant work in progress), friends (check), interior design (only after the money starts rolling in), home internet connection (ditto). I totally need to check out sometimes and just slow down since I’m one of those people who has been lucky enough to get everything all at once. So just like the tortoise, slow and steady – we’ll win this race.
PS – pictures of our rad new flat to come soon!
